Using voice commands for controlling hardware on HTC One M8 with Lollipop

One the shorter headlines so far this year. It’s simply a part of google voice commands that so far only works with a Lollipop device.

Yes, this you NEED Lollipop for.

There’s 3 things which directly toggles on and off using your voice:

  • Wifi
  • Bluetooth
  • Flashlight

Just trigger ok google, or tap the microphone button and say

“turn off wifi”, if understood correctly it will now show you a toogle menu and confirming the action.

Same with bluetooth and flashlight, although flashlight for me gives a search result as well (at times).

Things that leads you to settings but doesn’t directly change state

  • Location, “turn off location”
  • Airplane mode, “turn on airplane mode”
